Have You Seen God?

Have You Seen God?

Today, my seven-year old son, Matthew, asked me if I had ever seen God.  I told him that I had.  He asked me when. I replied, “Every time I look at you.”

1 Corinthians 3: 16 (NKJV) tells us, “ Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”

His question made me think of other times I have seen God.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 states, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

1 John 4:8 says, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

These are a few of the times I have seen God based on these scriptures.

I have seen God in the patient voice of a tired mom as she answers the same question for the 20th time.
I have seen God in the kindness of a cashier as she treats the un-showered customer with dignity.
I have seen God in the congratulations from a friend who also wants a child.
I have seen God in the humble servants in the background of every church.
I have seen God in the words of credit, “That’s all God”.
I have seen God in a serviceman’s salute to those he may not personally respect.
I have seen God in the wrinkles of Mother Teresa’s face.
I have seen God in the peace of a man having every slanderous word spewed at him.
I have seen God in the forgiveness of a friend.
I have seen God in the actions of children standing up against bullies.
I have seen God in the strong arms of my husband.
I have seen God in the trusting eyes of my children.
I have seen God in the face of cancer.
I have seen God in the tired soul that is finishing their race no matter what.
I have seen LOVE keep God’s Son on the cross that hate nailed Him to.
